Is this a pay site?
Yes. Trial membership allow 20 free days of play, but following that you'll need to pay $14 for 6 months or $23 for a year. Additionally, you will be unable to interact with the paid users of the site by trading ponies or services without a paid membership. You can buy ponies from the Pony Market and also breed with the ponies in there though.
Why is it a pay site?
First and foremost it's because of our strong dislike for what internet in general has become, a big ad. We wanted to be able to fully control the content of our site to ensure that it's children friendly and that all that is displayed on our site has been approved by us. Though a place like this cost a lot to run and we've therefor decided to make it a pay site, so we can afford to keep the site up and so that we can keep it up to date with good servers and bandwidth. We also know that our users appreciate the fact that with it beeing a pay site we don't get the "internet scum" and scammers that ususally haunt free children sites.

How do I breed paints, socks, rainbows and stripes?
The rainbow and paint will be inherited as recessive genes so if you breed two paints they'll have a double setup of the paint gene and therefore you're guaranteed a paint baby. If you breed one paint to a non paint you get carriers of the paint gene. These will look normal but can pass on the gene to their offspring if breed to a paint or a paint carrier. And if you breed two carriers of the gene together you can get paints or carriers. It works like rainbow hair but rainbowhair and stripes are a bit more complivated, but just a little: If you have two normal genes you'll get normal hair.
If you have one normal gene one for stripe, you'll get normal hair. But pony can give striped offspring with another carrier of the gene.
If you have two stripe genes you'll get a visible hair stripe.
If you have one normal gene one for rainbow, you'll get normal hair. But the pony can give rainbow offspring with another carrier of the rainbow gene.
If you have two rainbow genes you'll get a visible rainbow hair.
And if you have one rainbow gene and one stripe gene you will get a hair stripe since that is dominant over rainbow.
Who are carriers of a gene you can't know until you try.
The special genes are all described in the advanced section of the manual with illustrations.

What is the placing bets thing about and how do I do it?
You can place a bet on any pony that is entered in a contest; the betting system then calculates the odds for the pony to win. What does the percentage of inbreeding mean and how will it affect me?
Inbreeding currently only effects the babies level when they're born, and currently we'll most likely not add anymore drastic effects due to the very high amount of very inbred ponies on PI. So we'll give you a chance to recover the ponies from the inbreeding depression that hit PI before any more drastic effect will be put in place.
Why so many hexes on my pony page?
There are two hair hexes, one is for the color you see and the other is for the hair stripe, however if the pony does not have the gene for the stripe it won’t be visible.
What are the ‘extra’ hexes for? They are for things like wings, fins etc.
